Music and Dance
- Dance Workshop: The teaching artist will present a dance workshop for individual classes teaching Greek Folk Dances and presenting material about the place of dance in traditional Greek life as well as its place in the poetry, art and literature of Ancient Greece.
- Visiting Dance Ensemble: Boston Lykeion Ellinidon will present an assembly dance program for students. Boston Lykeion Ellinidon is an internationally recognized, academically inspired institution engaged in researching, teaching, and collecting Greek dance, music, customs and traditions from all regions of Greece and the wider Hellenic world. www.BostonLykeion.org
- Visiting Music Ensemble: The Alpha Express Music Ensemble lead by resident artist, Nick Kachulis, will present a day of workshops playing Greek folk songs, demonstrating folk instruments, and demonstrating the rhythmic variety of Greek music. Students are engaged in these hands on workshops to experience first hand the sound and rhythms of Greek music through interactive activities, guided listening and hands on playing. This day of workshops culminates in a concert of Greek Music for residency students. Student musicians join the band on stage.
